Lunar New Year is a festival that is celebrated in many countries in Asia, and also by people of Chinese, Korean, Mongolian, Tibetan, and Vietnamese descent around the world. While Lunar New Year may be more widely known as Chinese Spring Festival or Chinese New Year, it is also known as Korean New Year, Mongolian Lunar New Year or White Moon, Tibetan New Year, and Vietnamese New Year. 

This event typically features performances by KCA dance students and yoyo club members, as well as various community partners.

The annual festival commemorates the tradition of the Chinese Moon Festival, which is celebrated in China in mid-autumn.

Various KCA dance and yoyo performances have been featured at art hop events presented by the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo. Previous events include "Spring Festival" in 2019, "Lantern Festival" in 2020, and virtual celebration of Chinese New Year in 2022.

Chinese New Year celebrations start with New Year’s Eve, when we have a big reunion dinner, with a feast with traditional foods. Chinese New Year lasts 15 days and is a national holiday in many Asian countries, although the number of actual public holiday ranges from 1 day to 7 days. Chinese New Year concludes with the Festival of Lanterns. Each year in the repeating zodiac cycle of 12 years is represented by an animal. 

This CAGK event is typically held at Chenery Auditorium and features performances by KCA dance students and yoyo club members, as well as various community partners.
